SCA Brista Skills

 

Barista Skills is for people focussing on the key skills required to set your grinder, make espresso and foam and texture milk for cappuccinos. This module allows you to gain a deeper understanding of the coffee itself and build on your practical skills for milk technique and latte art, not to mention health and safety, customer service and basic business.

Barista Skills can be studied at three different levels:

 

Foundation is for people new to the coffee industry and focuses on the key skills required to set your grinder, make espresso and foam and texture milk for cappuccinos. No previous barista experience is required for this course;

Intermediate provides a deeper understanding of the coffee itself and builds on the practical skills learnt at Foundation level. Milk techniques, including latte art, are introduced as well as health and safety, customer service and basic business. This course is suitable for people already working as baristas;

Professional level is suitable for baristas with considerable experience who have also completed the Intermediate qualification. It takes both a scientific and managerial perspective to coffee and making espresso-based drinks.

Please Note: All our Trainings are based on understanding the logic and the variables of brewing coffee and taking control of them. The target is to train you to a independent barista to be in control of making delicious Specialty Coffee! 

All the Trainings can be followed in 4 languages; English, German, Dutch and Turkish.

Foundation is for people new to the coffee industry and focuses on the key skills required to set your grinder, make espresso and foam and texture milk for cappuccinos.  No previous barista experience is required for this course; 

Designed to introduce core barista skills to people with no previous barista experience. Successful candidates should be able to calibrate their grinders and make an espresso and cappuccino to core standards.


Introduction to Coffee is a recommended (but not mandatory) pre-requisite module. All knowledge and skill from these modules will be assumed as being held and may be tested through the practical and/or written assessments.

SCA Barista Skills

Intermediate provides a deeper understanding of the coffee itself and builds on the practical skills learnt at Foundation level. Milk techniques, including latte art, are introduced as well as health and safety, customer service and basic business. This course is suitable for people already working as baristas;

 

Designed to test key core and more advanced skills and understanding, expected from a competent barista (for example, from someone working as a barista for 6 months or more). Successful candidates should be able to dial in a brew recipe, make a full range of drinks with quality and speed, as well as understand the basic requirements for customer service and maintenance.

Introduction to Coffee and Barista Foundation are recommended (but not mandatory) pre-requisite modules. All knowledge and skill from these modules will be assumed as being held and may be tested through the practical and/or written assessments.

Duration: 2 days

Price: €345 training + SCA Members €100/ Non-members €180 certificate ex. VAT.

Professional level is suitable for baristas with considerable experience who have also completed the Intermediate qualification. It takes both a scientific and managerial perspective to coffee and making espresso-based drinks.

Designed to test key core and more advanced skills and understanding, expected from a competent Barista (For example, from someone working as a Barista for 6 months or more).
Successful candidates should be able to dial in a brew recipe, make a full range of drinks with quality and speed, as well as understand the basic requirements for customer service and maintenance.

Introduction to Coffee, Barista Foundation, and Intermediate Brewing and Grinding are recommended (but not mandatory) pre-requisite modules. Holding the Intermediate Barista Certification is a mandatory requirement. All knowledge and skill from these modules will be assumed as being held and may be tested through the practical and/or written assessments.
